The door type decides what your colleagues can do behind a door. Every door has a title, a text and a header image or video, see Editing doors. The type adds its own settings below them.
| Type | Good for | Earns points for |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Stories, greetings, tips, news | Opening the door |
| Quiz | Questions with right and wrong answers | Opening, plus each correct answer |
| Link | A button to a page, a form or a Flip post | Opening the door |
| Raffle | Prizes | Opening, plus entering |
| Recipe | Cookies, punch, a holiday dish | Opening the door |
| Poll | Opinions and votes | Opening, plus voting |
| Shared goal | Everyone working towards one target together | Opening the door |
See Points for how many points each action is worth.
Choosing and changing the type
Pick the type under Door type in the door editor.
Changing the type keeps the title, text and header image, and resets the type's settings. If you already filled them in, the editor asks first: Change the door type?
Settings that aren't text, such as dates, correct answers, amounts and links, are the same in every language. Texts like questions, answers and prizes are written per language.
Text
The simplest door: a title, a text and an image or video. There are no extra settings.
Quiz
Up to five questions, each with two to six answers.
For each question:
- Question: up to 300 characters.
- Several answers can be correct: switch it on for questions where more than one answer is right. Participants then see "Select every answer that applies."
- Answers: up to 120 characters each. Add up to six, remove down to two.
- Mark the correct answer (or Mark every correct answer).
- Explanation, shown after answering: optional, up to 500 characters. A good place for a fun fact.
What participants see: your questions, numbered "Question 1 of 3" and so on. They answer every question, then click Submit answer. They can answer once. Afterwards they see how many they got right, the correct answers, your explanations and the points they earned. A question with several correct answers only counts as correct if exactly the right answers are picked.
Points: Each correct quiz answer is earned per correct question.
Analytics: the share of correct answers, and for each question how often each answer was picked. See Analytics.
Tip: If you correct a question after the door opened, people who already answered keep their points. New answers are scored against the new version.
Link
A button that opens a web page or a place in the Flip App.
-
Link: an address starting with
https://, or aflip://link into the Flip App. It's the same for every language. - Button text: up to 60 characters, per language, for example "Sign up" or "Read more".
What participants see: the door's text and a button. Links into the Flip App open in the app.
Analytics: how often the button was clicked (each person counts at most once a minute). Links inside the door's text aren't counted.
Raffle
People enter with one click. You draw the winners yourself, outside the calendar: the calendar gives you the list of everyone who entered.
- Prize: what people can win, up to 120 characters.
- Prize description: optional, up to 1,000 characters.
- Last day to enter: required. Entries close at the end of this day in the calendar's time zone. It can't be before the door opens.
- Terms of participation: optional, up to 5,000 characters. Say who can take part, how and when the winner is drawn, and how they're contacted. Many organisations are required to publish terms for a raffle, so check with your legal or HR team.
- Confirmation shown after entering: optional, up to 300 characters, for example "You're in. Good luck!"
What participants see: the prize, the closing date, your terms (folded away), and this note next to the button: By entering, you share your name and Flip ID with the organisers so they can draw and contact the winners. After entering, they see your confirmation. Entering twice changes nothing. They don't see how many people entered.
Drawing the winners
- After the door opens, the raffle door's editor and the calendar's Overview show Entries so far and a Download entrants button.
- Download the list after the last day to enter. It's a CSV file with each entrant's Flip user ID and name.
- Draw the winners in a way your terms describe, for example with a random number generator.
- Contact the winners in Flip.
Every download of the list is recorded. It's the only place in the calendar where you see who did something.
Points: Entering a raffle, once.
Recipe
A recipe with ingredients your colleagues can scale to the amount they need.
- Introduction: optional, up to 1,000 characters.
- Makes: how many the recipe makes, and what, for example "40 crescents" or "4 servings".
- Prep time (min) and Total time (min): optional. The total includes resting and baking.
- Ingredients: up to 40, each with an amount, a unit and a name. Leave the amount empty for "to taste". Move them up or down with the arrows. The Metric / US switch above them shows the amounts in grams and millilitres, or in ounces, pounds and cups. Switching only changes what you see, so switching back and forth never rounds anything. Once you change an amount or unit, the whole recipe is saved as shown, so a recipe never mixes the two. Switch back while you're still editing and the recipe is saved with the amounts you wrote again, not converted twice. Only amounts too small to convert, such as 1 g of yeast, stay as you wrote them.
- Method: up to 30 steps.
Amounts, units and the order are the same in every language; only the names and steps are translated.
What participants see: the ingredients with checkboxes to tick off, and Fewer and More buttons that scale every amount. Amounts are rounded sensibly, for example to whole eggs or quarter teaspoons. When a recipe weighs or measures something, participants get the same Metric / US switch and see the amounts in the units they're used to, whichever you wrote it in.
Poll
One question with two to six options. Everybody can vote once.
- Question: up to 300 characters.
- Options: two to six, up to 120 characters each.
- Last day to vote: optional. Voting closes at the end of this day, then everyone sees the results. Without a date, voting stays open while the calendar runs.
What participants see: the options and a Vote button. After voting, they see the results in percent, which option they chose, and the number of votes. Votes can't be changed. Nobody, you included, sees who voted for what: there are only totals.
Points: Voting in a poll, once.
Once the door has opened, you can still correct the options' text, but not add or remove options.
Shared goal
A goal everyone reaches together, for example "If 30 of us open this door by 12 December, we donate €1,000 to the food bank." Every person who opens the door counts once.
- Goal: what everyone works towards, up to 300 characters.
- Target: how many people must open this door.
- Counted until: the last day that counts. By default, the day of the calendar's last door.
- Shown when the goal is reached and Shown when the goal is missed: up to 300 characters each.
What participants see: your goal, a progress bar with "24 / 30", and "You're one of them." once they've opened the door. When the target is reached, even before the deadline, they see your "reached" text. If the deadline passes below the target, they see your "missed" text.
Tip: Pick a target you can reach. Look at how many people opened earlier doors on the Analytics tab, and count only the days up to the deadline.
