Mini Apps are ready-to-use applications designed to streamline and automate various HR tasks such as absence management. In that way, employees can easily complete time-off requests in Flip on their mobile or desktop.

Overview
Once accessed, the following view will load for your end users:
Here, you can:
- Create time off requests
- Cancel time off requests
- View the history of your time off requests and their status
- View your upcoming time off requests and their status
- View the absence policies you have access to and their corresponding balance
- Remain informed when the status of your time off request has changed via notifications.
Create Time Off Requests
To create a time off request:
- Tap (or Click) on the "Request time off" button.
- Select the time off type, start and end date (and start and end time if you need only a few hours off), and add a comment if necessary.
- Confirm the time off request, tap (or click) on the "Send request" button.
Once submitted, the request will be assigned a "Pending" status until your manager or the HR department reviews it.
Cancel Time Off Requests
To cancel a time off request:
- Go to the Summary or Requests page.
- Tap on the time off request you wish to cancel.
- Tap the "Cancel" button.
Note: If you don’t want employees to create or cancel time off requests in Flip, you can enable read-only mode. For more details, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
View Past and Future Time Off Requests
By accessing the Requests section, you can view your past and future time off requests. When you click on a specific request, the following information becomes visible:
- Time Off Policy Type: The type of leave requested (e.g., Vacation, Sick).
- Start and End: The start and end date/time for the request.

Status: The current status (Pending, Accepted, Rejected, Cancelled, or Error).
- Pending: The request has been submitted but has not yet been approved or rejected.
- Accepted: The request has been approved by your manager or HR representative.
- Rejected: The request has been rejected by your manager or HR representative.
- Cancelled: The request has been cancelled by you, your manager, or an HR representative.
- Error: The request has not synced correctly with the HR system. In this case, please contact your manager or HR department to confirm its status in the HR system.
- Created by: The user who submitted the request.
- Approver: The person who accepted or rejected the request (displayed after action is taken).
- Comment: Any additional notes submitted with the request.
- Created: The date and time the request was originally created.
- Updated: The date and time the request was last updated.
Check Your Balances
To see how many vacation days you have left, or to check the limit for policies like "sick child," click on Balances.
This screen provides a quick overview of all policies you have access to and their associated balances.
Get Notified of Status Changes
The Absence Management Mini App informs employees about status changes via push notifications and in-app activities.
To ensure you push notifications, please check the following:
- Notifications are enabled in your Flip profile settings.
- Your device's operating system (smartphone or PC) allows the Flip app to send notifications.
Supported Integrations
For the Absence Management use case, Flip supports the following out-of-the-box connections for the following HR systems: Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG Pro WFM, HiBob, Personio.
Note: If your system is not listed above, reach out to your Customer Success Manager to discuss the requirements for creating an out-of-the-box connection for your use case.
