This page provides information on configuring user attributes. To modify the values of attributes for a specific user, navigate to User Management, select the user, and go to the Attributes tab.
Configuring user attributes allows you to:
- Adjust the name, including translations
- Configure visibility for users
- Configure editability for users
- Create additional attributes beyond the predefined ones
By default, the following predefined user attributes are configured:
- Department / Area
- Role / Position
- Location
- Phone
- Mobile Phone
- About Me
In addition to these predefined attributes, custom attributes can be created.
Creating an Attribute
- Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
- Click on Add Attribute
- Select:
- A display name, which is shown to the user
- A technical name, relevant for API usage
- A data type (Text or Phone Number)
- User permissions (Visible, Editable, Hidden)
- Click Create Attribute
Editing an Attribute
- Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
- Select the attribute you want to edit
- Click on Edit
- Modify:
- The display name, which is shown to users (See here for translations)
- User permissions (Visible, Editable, Hidden)
- Click Save Changes
Translating the Display Name
Ensure that the languages you want to translate into are enabled under Admin Console > Settings > Languages. See here for more information on manual translations.
The display name of predefined attributes is automatically shown to users in their device language. If a predefined display name is overwritten, custom translations must be added.
- Click Edit
- For predefined attributes, click Override Display Name (You can revert this by clicking Reset to Default Name)
- Click Add Language and select one or more languages
- Switch to the tab of the desired language and enter the translation
- Click Save Changes
Deleting an Attribute
Predefined attributes cannot be deleted. To hide them from users, set the user permission to Hidden.
To delete a custom user attribute:
- Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
- Click on the three dots in the row of the attribute you want to delete
- Select Delete Attribute
- Confirm the deletion
