This page provides information on configuring user attributes. To modify the values of attributes for a specific user, navigate to User Management, select the user, and go to the Attributes tab.

Configuring user attributes allows you to:

  • Adjust the name, including translations
  • Configure visibility for users
  • Configure editability for users
  • Create additional attributes beyond the predefined ones

By default, the following predefined user attributes are configured:

  • Department / Area
  • Role / Position
  • Location
  • Phone
  • Mobile Phone
  • About Me

In addition to these predefined attributes, custom attributes can be created.

Creating an Attribute

  1. Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
  2. Click on Add Attribute
  3. Select:
    • A display name, which is shown to the user
    • A technical name, relevant for API usage
    • A data type (Text or Phone Number)
    • User permissions (Visible, Editable, Hidden)
  4. Click Create Attribute

Editing an Attribute

  1. Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
  2. Select the attribute you want to edit
  3. Click on Edit
  4. Modify:
    • The display name, which is shown to users (See here for translations)
    • User permissions (Visible, Editable, Hidden)
  5. Click Save Changes

Translating the Display Name

Ensure that the languages you want to translate into are enabled under Admin Console > Settings > Languages. See here for more information on manual translations.

The display name of predefined attributes is automatically shown to users in their device language. If a predefined display name is overwritten, custom translations must be added.

  1. Click Edit
  2. For predefined attributes, click Override Display Name (You can revert this by clicking Reset to Default Name)
  3. Click Add Language and select one or more languages
  4. Switch to the tab of the desired language and enter the translation
  5. Click Save Changes

Deleting an Attribute

Predefined attributes cannot be deleted. To hide them from users, set the user permission to Hidden.

To delete a custom user attribute:

  1. Go to: Admin Console > User Management > User Attributes
  2. Click on the three dots in the row of the attribute you want to delete
  3. Select Delete Attribute
  4. Confirm the deletion
