Create menu item based on user groups
In the "Content" area under the "Menu items" item of the Admin Console, menu items can be created independently. Those items are visible to users in the main menu.
-
you can add a new menu item using the "+ Add menu item" button in the top right-hand corner.
-
a new window opens.
-
assign a name for the menu item
- note: The limit for the name of the menu item is 30 characters.
-
select an icon or image for the menu item
- menu items can be highlighted with a background image so that they can be found at a glance. To achieve an optimal result, the image should be square (at least 300 x 300 pixels).
-
enter the link for the menu item
- in addition to links and intranet links, emails (mailto:muster-mail@muster.de) or deep links to an app (notion://www.notion.so/muster/muster-seite) can also be used.
- Mail: The shortcut "mailto:" can be used to link emails behind a menu item. But be careful! If the user does not have a mail programme installed on their device, the link will not work.
- Deeplink**: Some programmes support the function of opening an app directly via a link if it is installed. Which tools support this function and how this deeplink is structured for the desired app must be researched in advance with the desired application and checked individually.
-
define the display option
Further properties can be customised in the "Display option" section.
Here you can customise how the link behind the menu item should be opened on Mobile and Desktop.
-
Mobile:
- Open in device browser: The URL is opened in the default device browser.
- Inside the app (with Flip Bridge): It is not recommended for most links, as it does not support every URL and display errors may occur on mobile devices. Only use it if your in-app view needs to communicate with the Flip App via Flip Bridge.
-
Desktop:
- Open in device browser: The URL is opened in the default device browser.
- Inside the app (iFrame): The URL is embedded inside the App. Some websites do not allow such embeddings. You can test whether the page can be integrated as in iFrame here. You can also use this option if your in-app view needs to communicate with the Flip App via Flip Bridge.
-
Mobile:
-
select the user group for which you want to make the menu item visible. If you want the menu item to be visible to everyone, select the user group root.
-
define whether the menu item should be directly activated or deactivated. Activated means that the menu item is displayed to users. Deactivated means that no user will see the menu item.
-
click on "Create menu item" to open the further settings for the menu item.
-
after you have created and activated the menu item, the new menu item appears in the menu of the employee app for all employees of the stored user group.
The order of the menu items can also be subsequently adjusted. To do this, select a user group in the top tab, which changes the view. You can now use the slider to adjust the position of the menu item in the overview.
Disable menu item
A menu item can be deactivated with the "Deactivate menu item" button at the end of the detailed view. A deactivated menu item is not visible to end users.
Menu items can only be deactivated by the owner of the respective user group.
Delete menu item
A menu item can also be deleted using the "Delete menu item" button at the end of the detailed view.
Menu items can only be deleted by the owner of the respective user group.
