A Text reply action collects free-text input from the flow user — anything that doesn't fit a button, a date, or a directory pick.

Adding a Text reply to a message

1. Open the message you want to add it to
2. Add a Text reply action
3. Give it a name so you can easily use the data later
4. Add advanced settings (trimming white space, max length etc.) where required
5. The flow user will be shown a text box when they reach this step
6. Reference what they typed in later messages, tasks, or other steps by recalling {{text_reply.value}}

Good to know

• Prefer a more specific action when one fits — a Button for a fixed set of choices, a Date Select for dates, a User Select for picking a person — and reach for Text reply when the input genuinely needs to be open-ended.
