Messages

A Message step sends text to the flow user; it’s the most basic building block of a flow, and usually where you'll attach any actions the person needs to respond with.

Adding a message

  1. Click the + and choose Message
  2. Write what you want to send
  3. Personalize it with data from earlier in the flow or from a flow user’s profile. For example {{keyword.user.first_name}} for the flow user's first name, or {{fetched_user.first_name}} for someone looked up via Get User
  4. You can add an image to your message or make it a scrollable carousel
  5. You can also choose who the message should go to. This will default to the person who triggered the flow (either via keyword, channel trigger or scheduled message). You can choose someone you selected earlier in the flow through a Get User part. Eg. A user selects their manager during an onboarding flow. Click into your message and select your user in the Send to drop down. For a user you’ve chosen earlier in the flow, select the message where you chose them.

Attaching an action to a message

  1. Open the message
  2. Add the action you need: Buttons for a fixed choice, Text reply for open text, User Select to pick a person, Data Select for a date, or File Upload.
  3. A message can carry more than one action if it needs to.
