A quick reference for every building block available in the Flow Builder, grouped by what they're for. Click through to each doc for the full breakdown.

Starting a flow

• Keywords - start a flow when someone types a specific word or phrase in chat
• Schedule - (recurring, time-based)
• Channel trigger - sends a user a message when they are added to a specific group in the app

Sending messages

• Messages - send text, images, carousels with data from earlier in the flow
• Channel Posts - post into a channel rather than to an individual

Collecting a response (Actions, attached to a message)

• Buttons — a fixed set of choices to tap
• Text reply — open-ended free text
• User Select — pick a person from your Flip directory
• Data Select — pick a date
• File Upload — attach a file
• Web Link — a clickable link out to something external

Working with people and channels

• Get User — look up a profile (name, custom attributes).
• Get Channel Members / Get User Group members — pull in a list of people to act on (often feeding a Loop)
• Add to Channel / Remove from Channel — manage channel membership
• Update User Attributes — write a value back to someone's profile

Control flow

• Condition — branch based on something earlier in the run
• Loop / Wait — repeat steps for a list of people, or pause before continuing
• Flow Link — hand off to a different flow
• Task — create an actionable Flip task, rather than just sending a message

Connecting outward

• Outbound Webhook — send flow data to an external system.

Common combinations

• Scheduler + Loop (broadcast) — a recurring, scheduled message to everyone in a channel.
