The fastest way to get a working flow is to describe it and let the AI Flow Builder build it!
1. On the flow builder landing page, describe what you want
- Type what you're trying to build in plain language, the more detail, the better, for example:
"I want to build an incident report flow. The flow should ask about the issue, and the urgency and post the information into the channel “incidents” as well as sending a message to the manager of the store."
See AI Builder Best Practices for how to get the best results from this step, and how to keep refining with follow-up prompts.
2. Connect your flow
Every flow sends and receives messages as a specific Flow user — the identity (flow/user account) that shows up in chat when the flow talks to someone. Each flow has its own client identity rather than messages appearing to come from a generic system account.
- Click Create new Flow User…
- Choose a first and last name for your flow that helps your team understand what it does eg. Orville Onboarder
Each “Flow user” is a new API client. You must be an admin to create a new “flow user” or API client.
3. Build and edit
- Use the canvas to review what the AI built.
- Check you have a trigger node set up. This could be a keyword, schedule (broadcast) or channel trigger.
- Use the AI assistant or click around the canvas to edit and continue building.
4. Double-check your routing
- Confirm your flow is one clean, reachable path from Start through to wherever it should end.
- Use the AI assistant to fix any loose ends, unreachable steps, or missing connections — these will surface as validation errors before you can publish.
5. Publish
- Once you're happy, click Publish. See Publishing Flows for what happens next, and how to view past versions.
