How to Set Up Triggers with Your AI Assistant

Triggers allow your AI Assistant to automatically perform an action based on a user’s input. When a trigger is configured, the AI Assistant can, for example, include a relevant Flip Flow directly in its response, helping users move quickly from a question to the right next step.

To do this effectively, you’ll need to give your AI Assistant clear guidance on when an action should be triggered and which action should be performed.

To set up a trigger

  1. Open the Admin Console and navigate to AI Assistant → Triggers.
  2. Click + Add Trigger and give your trigger a name for reference.
  3. We recommend setting up the action first and then using AI to generate the trigger description. The AI will generate a description based on the action you’ve set up. A clear and descriptive trigger description helps ensure reliable responses from your AI Assistant. To set up actions, click + Add Action.
  4. Click Select action (for example, Trigger Flip Flow)
  5. Click Select flow and choose the Flip Flow you want to link
  6. Click Select message and choose the message that should be sent

ℹ️ Only messages that are attached to a keyword in the Flip Flow builder will be available for selection.

  1. Once you’ve completed the action setup, add the trigger description. We recommend using AI for this step. Click Generate with AI, review the suggested text, and choose Use it or Discard.

8. To activate the trigger, set the trigger status to Active, then click Create to save the trigger.

Adding Multiple Actions and Conditions

You can add more than one action to a trigger. When multiple actions are configured, it’s important to define conditions for each action.

Actions are evaluated from top to bottom. As soon as a condition is met, the corresponding action is triggered. The last action in the list acts as the default action.

If none of the conditions match, the default action will be triggered. Default actions cannot have conditions applied.

To add a condition to an action:

  1. Click Add condition
  2. Select a condition type (for example, Detected language)
  3. Click the + icon to select the value
  4. Click Save changes or Create

Testing Your Trigger

After creating a trigger, make sure to test it.

Open the Ask AI chat and send a message that reflects the trigger description you defined. If everything is set up correctly, Ask AI should perform the expected action.
