You can make Flip available directly in Microsoft Teams so that your employees can access internal communications without switching tools. This guide explains how to add the Flip app as a custom Teams app for your organization.
What is Flip in Microsoft Teams?
Flip in Microsoft Teams allows your employees to access the full Flip Web App directly inside the Microsoft Teams desktop application. This integration brings Flip closer to your daily work environment and helps bridge the gap between frontline and office workers.
Note: Currently, Flip in Microsoft Teams is only available on desktop.
Prerequisites
-
You need to be a Global Administrator or Teams Service Administrator in Microsoft 365
-
The Flip in Teams feature must be enabled for your organization (reach out to your Customer Success Manager to activate it)
-
The Teams app package (ZIP file) must be downloaded from the Flip Admin Console
Step 1: Download the Flip Teams App Package
-
Open the Admin Console in Flip
-
Navigate to Integrations > Microsoft Teams
-
Download the ZIP file for your Flip Teams app
This ZIP file contains the app configuration you’ll need to upload in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
Step 2: Upload and Configure the App in Microsoft Teams
-
Open the Microsoft Teams Admin Center
-
Go to Teams apps > Manage apps
-
Click + Upload
-
Select and upload the ZIP file you downloaded from the Flip Admin Console
-
Once uploaded, the Flip app will appear in your list of custom apps
Step 3: Make Flip Available to Your Users
-
In the Teams Admin Center, go to Teams apps > Setup policies
-
Click Global (Org-wide default) or create a new custom policy
-
Under Pinned apps, click Add apps
-
Search for the Flip app you just uploaded
-
Add it and optionally move it up to display prominently in the sidebar
-
Click Save
You can also create custom app setup policies for specific teams or departments if you don’t want to roll it out to everyone.
What Users See
Once the app is pinned in Microsoft Teams, users will see the employee app logo in the sidebar.
On first use:
-
A new browser window will open to authenticate the user with Flip
-
If they are already logged in, they will be automatically redirected back to Teams
-
Once logged in, Flip will remain accessible within Teams without re-authentication
