Manual Translations & Multilingualism

Localization & Translation

A distinction is made between localization and translation. In addition to the automatic display of static content in the user's device language and the translation function for posts and messages, there is also the option for manual translation of certain elements.

Which elements can be translated manually?

The manual translation is available for elements, that can be created and configured by administrators. Examples include display names of user attributes, as well as user groups and menu items based on user groups.
If user groups is not enabled for your organization, only user attributes can be translated as of right now.

Enabling Languages

To manually translate elements into different languages, the desired languages must first be activated:

  1. Go to: Admin Console > Settings > Language
  2. Under "Multilingualism": Select the languages that should be available for manual translation.

When editing an element (e.g., a user attribute), you can now choose from the activated languages and add a corresponding translation.

For more information on translating the display name of user attributes, see here.
