Examples of channels

High level channels

Channels for corporate communication

Company-wide communication in which important and generally applicable information and news is disseminated regardless of department and role. Some examples:

  • Information channel
  • Ideas & feedback
  • Tips & tricks
  • Questions and answers
  • Important documents
  • Internal job exchange

Channels for private exchange

An employee app ensures that internal information is shared in a protected environment. Many Flip customers open up this secure framework for non-work-related topics. Some examples of private groups that strengthen the sense of togetherness and increase the usage rate:

  • Shared after-work activities
  • Search and find
  • Shared hobbies
  • Sports groups
  • Car pools

Mid Level Channels

Channels for different departments/locations

Location or department-specific communication in which important information and news is disseminated depending on departments and roles. Some examples:

  • Management channel
  • Department channels, e.g. HR, IT, etc.

Low level channels

Channels for different branches or production lines

Branches or branch groups under one management, areas or production lines can benefit from their own channel.

Tip: depending on the type of information, chat groups can also be useful here. However, if important documents need to be prominently available, a channel is more suitable; it is easier to find shift schedules or site plans, for example.

Monitor channel performance and take targeted action

As a system administrator, you can use Analytics in the Admin Console to monitor the utilisation rate of the individual channels and take targeted measures. It also makes a lot of sense to appoint people responsible for the individual channels who fill them with content and, if necessary, also take over moderation (e.g. channel admins or local editors for the respective locations and/or departments).

As experience has shown that a sensible channel structure leads to a good flow of information, it is advisable to have a clear organisation in mind before rolling out the employee app and to incorporate it accordingly. This can be very individual, but below you will find some industry-specific examples to help you create this organisation.
